Paediatric Physiotherapy

Our paediatric physiotherapy service provides assessment and treatment to infants, children and adolescents addressing a wide range of developmental, neurological and musculoskeletal problems.
While paediatric physiotherapists use many of the generic skills of physiotherapy, they use further skills and training within the field of development and growth. Children are not just small adults!
The primary focus is to enhance a child's motor skills, mobility, strength, balance, coordination, sensory processing and overall physical development and function through therapeutic exercises, activities, and play-based interventions.
Common conditions treated include:
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Developmental delays
  • Orthopaedic conditions - Hip dysplasia, torticollis, SUFE, Perthes, Oschgood-Schlatters, Severs disease, Scoliosis
  • Rheumatological conditions - Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Genetic conditions - Downs Syndrome, Angelman Syndrome, Retts Sydrome
  • Congenital anomalies - Spina Bifida, Talipes
  • Brachial Plexus injury - Erb's Palsy
  • Gait abnormalities - Toe walking, in-toeing
  • Sports injuries - fractures, sprains, dislocations
  • Neurological disorders - Traumatic Brain Injury, Neuroblastoma
