What is Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy?

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy treating injuries and conditions which affect the muscles, joints, and soft tissues.

Senior Clinicians, Chris and Matthew have over 25 years of experience between them. Outside of their private clinics they both work as Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners in ABMU Local Health Board. This specialist role requires them to manage complex Spinal and Orthopaedic patients outside of the Physiotherapy department. They both have extensive backgrounds in Sports Physiotherapy. Chris Lambert MCSP

Chris Lambert

Chris Lambert lives in Porthcawl. He graduated from Cardiff institute of sport with a Sport and Exercise Science degree in 2001. He went on to complete a Diploma in Sports Massage and developed an interest in injury assessment and treatment.

In 2006 he qualified from Cardiff school of Medicine with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. He currently works in an Advanced Practice Physiotherapy role in Abertawe Bro Morgannwg. He has a special interest in back pain and works closely with the Spinal Consultants in ABMU. Chris has worked at the highest level of Elite sport. Including Welsh Boxing, Womens FAW Football, Cardiff Futsal and Blues rugby accademy's. He continues to work as a Network Physiotherapist with Wales' Elite athletes at the Welsh Institute of Sport.  Chris enjoys running, surfing, and mountain biking.

He is passionate about offering high levels of Physiotherapy expertise within his clinic. He offers personalised and individual patient care within his modern clinic setting.

Mathew Jenkins MCSP

Mat Jenkins

Graduating from the University of Salford in 2002, Mathew has worked in the NHS, Private sector and in Welsh Premiership rugby. He currently works as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in ABMU NHS seeing complex spinal and Orthopaedic cases.

He currently combines his NHS work with private clinics. His specialist interests include management of spinal dysfunction, Shoulder pain, soft tissue and sport  injuries. He has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Orthopaedic and Musculoskletal Medicine (SOMM) and uses acupuncture in his practice.

Outside of work, he has a keen interest in most sports in particular rugby union having played at National Squad for Wales U18s.
