Helena graduated from the Queen Elizabeth School of Physiotherapy, Birmingham in 1992 and has 30 years’ experience working in Neurology.
On graduating, Helena worked in Norwich and Great Yarmouth hospitals in Norfolk gaining experience in each area of physiotherapy. She began specialising in Neurology, working on Stroke and Rehabilitation Units.
Helena also began working in the private sector, and saw the huge potential of treating people in their own homes.
Helena moved to Wales in 2003 and spent a brief time working in the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, before gaining a permanent post in the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend on the Rehabilitation Wards and Stroke Unit, and became Clinical Specialist and Team Lead in Stroke Care.
Helena left the NHS and returned to Private Practise, joining Neuro Physio Wales in 2018.
After working in the NHS, Helena understands the limitations of the health service in the care of people with longer term recovery needs. She is passionate about delivering the highest standards of care and quality of service.
Helena believes that there is always room for improvement and that not everyone is able to reach their full potential during their hospital stay.
Helena develops treatment plans based on each individual’s own goals, with the aim of improving quality of life and enabling living life to the full.
Through her years of experience, Helena is able to offer treatment for all complex neurological conditions including Stroke, MS, Parkinson’s Disease, Traumatic Brain Injury and Cerebral Palsy. She has completed the Basic Bobath and the Advanced Bobath Courses in treating adults with Neurological conditions.
Helena has a special interest in helping people suffering from Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and is working to help develop specialist services for FND in Wales.
